Nicky

I began my Veterinary Receptionist Career at our previous surgery at Jacobs Well in 2012 and during that time have broadened my knowledge of animals vastly.

I love coming to work and meeting all the beautiful animals, and their carers, who come through the practice doors.

Animals have been a passion since very young.  My leisure time is mostly taken up by Dog Sports e.g. Agility, Dock Diving and Noseworks.  I also attend seminars and workshops where topics vary from Animal Behaviour to Dog Obedience.  At our local dog club, I have taught Basic Dog Obedience for the last 6 years and have won some agility dog competitions.

Dr Christine Prendergast

BVSc, MAgrSc, BAppSC (RT) (Hons)

Dr Christine although born in Melbourne, grew up in the farming community of Central Qld, Central NSW, and then settled in South-East Queensland.  Naturally she attended Gatton Agricultural College and graduated with a practical – hands on – agricultural degree.

After a working tour of the old country (Europe), Dr Christine attended The University of Sydney and graduated with her Masters Degree. It was here she met her future husband Dr John and she was inspired to pursue a veterinary career.

After graduating from The University of Queensland with her BVSc, she and Dr John purchased Killarney Veterinary Surgery. Dr Christine spent much time sitting on the cattle yard rails yarning to farmers about herd and population dynamics, attending cow caesareans, horse riding and raising their child Lorraine.

The ‘Sea Change’ leads the couple to Jacobs Well where they established Jacobs Well Veterinary Surgery.

Dr Christine loves to get amongst the animals and use her veterinary knowledge however life’s turns have necessitated a lean toward practice management. Sometimes you will see her pop her head into the clinic proper when she has some free time. The new surgery, Curtis Street Vets @ Pimpama, has been the couple’s pet project for some time.

Debbie

Receptionist

Debbie began her nursing journey back in 2001 as part of School Based Traineeship at a small clinic in inner South Brisbane. She started as the weekend hydro bather and junior nurse. Over the next 10 years, she worked her way up to Head Vet Nurse.

Since those very early days, Deb has worked in both Emergency and General Practices in Australia and Canada! She has since settled down on the Gold Coast with her family.

Deb shares her home with her husband, three step-children, Burton the French Mastiff, Nugget the French Bulldog, Nalani and Ginger her Sphynx Cats and Esme the spicy Blonde Spotted Python.

Belinda

Hello, I assist Christine with the bookwork behind the scenes.  I enjoy data entry the most but can be found at meetings and organising various functions along the way.  I have seen the practice expand from our previous surgery at Jacobs Well to our current Vet surgery being Curtis Street Vets @ Pimpama.

In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, socialising, and cooking for friends and family.  I love coming to work because all the nurses and Veterinarians take such great care of all the animals that visit the clinics. They are all so friendly and I get to talk to the pets as they come in.

Terri-Leigh

Hello my name is Terri. I have grown up at Jacobs Well Veterinary Surgery, working alongside Dr John and commencing my Nursing career when I was 14 years old. I have graduated with an Animal Attendant Certificate II.

I moved away a few years ago, but was so excited to come back to Jacobs Well.

I am always looking forward to meeting you and your pet(s) and to solving any problem (answering any question) in conjunction with all our veterinarians.

I have always had a love for animals and own both the large and small animals. I currently enjoy training my ‘fur babies’ (dogs) and relaxing, taking them to the beach and spending time with my children and husband.

Darsshana aka Dash

Veterinary Science Student

Hello, my name is Darsshana and I have been working at Curtis Street Vets since May 2022. I’ve grown up living in the Gold Coast and since I was young I’ve had a great passion in caring for animals. Throughout my life I’ve had pet chickens, dogs, cats, fish, miniature goats and even hermit crabs.

I have just recently finished studying the Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary Biosciences at La Trobe University in Melbourne. I hope to pursue a career as a veterinarian in the near future.

I’m beyond grateful to have had the opportunity to work at Curtis Street Vets where everyday is a school day and I am able to thoroughly enjoy every second. I love working with animals and the amazing team of staff at the clinic, I look forward to meeting you there soon!

Johns Golden Retrievers

We are a close family where we are almost all related! We consist of the older girls Snow, Aurora and Lava, teenage children Momo (Mowgli), Xena, Amy (Amythest) and our boys Homer, Loki and Vulcan.

Our matriach Fleur passed away last year, but the family has remained close together! We make sure that No-One goes unnoticed around our place.  We live in the back runs and will regularly talk to the Nurses when they hang out their washing.

Sometimes we are called to duty and willingly donate blood to save lives.
