Jen

Practice Manager – Certificate IV – Veterinary Nursing

Hi, my name is Jen and I am a Cert IV Veterinary Nurse and have worked in the industry since 1994. Vet nursing is such a rewarding career, every day is different, and I always love coming to work. I enjoy continuing to learn and sharing my knowledge with the trainee nurses.

I have worked at Curtis Street Vets @Pimpama and previously at Jacobs Well Vet Surgery since December 2017 and enjoy working with the team here. I moved back to this area in December after spending the last 15 years in the country where I was the Practice Manager for my local vet clinic.

I could be described as a home-body as I enjoy quiet time at home with my family, but I also love to travel, anything from camping in a swag to 5 star resorts.

I have my cat Gingerbread at home so there are always lots of cuddles waiting for me.

Lorraine

Cert II (Animal Studies), BAgrBus, BVTech, Registered Veterinary Technician

Hello, I was born in Brisbane, but quickly moved with my parents (Dr John and Dr Christine) to Killarney. Growing up inside Killarney Veterinary Surgery and on the farm was a wonderful childhood. I was able to participate in the many activities of Veterinary Life, as well as enjoy the outdoor arena on the farm. I grew up with dogs, cats, chooks, cattle, horses and guinea pigs.

I have finished studying Agribusiness and Veterinary Technology at University of Queensland (Gatton Campus). I hope to study Veterinary Science in the future. You will meet me – assisting my Clients, Patients, Veterinarians and Veterinary Nurses now that I am working full-time. I especially enjoy meeting all your wonderful pets as you come into our Veterinary Surgeries.

I also participate in the background management assisting my parents.

In my free time, I enjoy taking the Golden Retrievers down to the beach so they can romp to their hearts content on the sand and through the water.

Mallory

Certificate IV – Veterinary Nursing

I graduated with my Certificate IV Vet Nursing in 2019 and after a chance job enquiry at the Jacobs Well Clinic, I began working at Curtis Street Vets in 2020.

I love working at CSV with a great team and caring for all the very special fur babies.  I am learning all the time and have found that I particularly enjoy nursing the patients that need ongoing care.

I also completed a Certificate II in Animal Studies in high school, knowing that my career would involve caring for animals.  During this time, I have welcomed many animals into our home through foster caring and pet sitting. I love seeing foster animals thrive and getting ready for their new homes.

At home I have a 14-year-old, Maltese named Buddy and a year ago, we adopted a 5-year-old Greyhound named Jessie.  There have been many other pets including another dog, cat, budgie, rats, and fish.  All are welcome.

When not at work, I love just being at home and spending time doing art and playing golf.

I look forward to meeting you and your pet and helping you in whatever way I can and together with our team, attain the best care and outcome for you and your pet.

Raechel

Senior Nurse – Bachelor of Applied Science (Veterinary Technology) and Certificate 3 in Pathology

Hi, my name is Raechel. I graduated in Veterinary technology in 2007 and have been working in small animal practices ever since. I started my career in an after hours emergency clinic but have found my passion in general nursing where I thrive on building lasting relationships with clients and patients alike.

I’m a mum of two with a great passion for travel and photography. We recently returned home from a 12 month road trip around Australia. Such an adventure!

I’m a lover of all things furry, feathered or scaly and for the first time in a very long time, I don’t have any fur-babies.  I’m waiting for the next ball of fluff to walk into our lives and call us ‘home’.

Cooper

Veterinary Nursing Trainee

Hello, my name is Cooper and I am one of the trainee Vet Nurses here at Curtis Street!

I have always had a passion for animals/animal care and biology and I always knew I wanted to become a Veterinary Nurse. As a child you could always find me collecting insects and looking after my pet fish!

At home I have my 2-year-old black pug Hugo who is my best friend.

I am super grateful to be able to learn from some great senior nurses here at Curtis Street who have shown me great nursing skills.

Rose

Certificate IV – Veterinary Nursing

Hi, my name is Rose and I’m currently in the process of completing my Cert IV in Vet nursing, after previously completing my Cert III in Animal Studies (Vet nursing stream) with TAFE QLD. I’m passionate about building positive client relationships and making sure your pets are always as comfortable as possible and loved liked they’re our own.

I’ve been a long-term client of both Jacob’s Well and Curtis Street Vets, so I’m delighted to be a part of the team now! I love the people I work with; learning new things, and have an interest in too many aspects of vet nursing to be able to say what my favourite part is! I just knew after over a decade in the retail pet industry that I wanted to do more to to help others and their pets, be a better wildlife rehabber as well as being the best ‘mum’ I can be to my own pets. I could say that my passion is to help, in any way I can.

I share my home with my cats, fish, rats, a senior French Bulldog named Florence (who adores Dr John), and a rough-and-tumble pair of American Staffies (Rick and Unity) that always keep me on my toes. When I have time, I love to do wildlife rehab and raising of orphaned possums and birds, my favourites being the ‘black and whites’ and cuckoos.

When I have time as well, I love to fish, ride my motorcycles, garden, and general DIY and arts and crafts at home.

I look forward to seeing you in clinic!

Terri-Leigh

Hello my name is Terri. I have grown up at Jacobs Well Veterinary Surgery, working alongside Dr John and commencing my Nursing career when I was 14 years old. I have graduated with an Animal Attendant Certificate II.

I moved away a few years ago, but was so excited to come back to Jacobs Well.

I am always looking forward to meeting you and your pet(s) and to solving any problem (answering any question) in conjunction with all our veterinarians.

I have always had a love for animals and own both the large and small animals. I currently enjoy training my ‘fur babies’ (dogs) and relaxing, taking them to the beach and spending time with my children and husband.
